Job Description
Reporting to the Procurement Director, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist will support the execution of AIM's procurement strategies by providing business solutions, primarily focused on activities related to our construction and engineering department and other categories as assigned. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
What you're responsible for:
- Developing, communicating, and contributing to the procurement team's initiatives with internal stakeholders by achieving or exceeding targets.
- Managing all procurement activities related to construction and engineering projects in Ontario and Northern USA.
- Collaborating with construction, engineering, operations, and corporate functions to define scope and align project expectations, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Sourcing qualified vendors and issuing tenders to the vendor community professionally and concisely.
- Developing, contributing to, and implementing short- and medium-term plans and targets in partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Proposing and justifying commercial benefit initiatives in new capital, sustaining capital, maintenance programs, and operational spending by providing detailed business cases.
- Proactively implementing strategic initiatives to improve service delivery, profitability, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
- Sourcing, issuing purchase orders, expediting, and coordinating with Accounts Payable to ensure materials are ordered, received, and paid for.
Qualifications

- You have a strategic mindset and strong negotiating skills.
- You possess a university degree in business or commerce, or have 3-5 years of procurement experience.
- You have or are working towards a NISCL/CSCMP designation (considered an asset).
- You have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships.
- You have a proven track record of improving processes and increasing efficiency.
- You hold a valid G driver's license and are willing to travel to sites across Ontario.
- You have a valid passport and are willing to travel to the USA (approximately 5% of the role's requirements).
