The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requires effective leader to manage Strategic Planning and Design within the Projects and Strategic Planning Section. This role will be responsible for leading the organization to strategically plan in alignment with the EPS Strategic Plan. This is achieved through the implementation of the strategic planning framework which includes the organization’s strategic plan, business plan and bureau action plans. This will be achieved by environmental scanning, strategy development, portfolio management, facilitation, change management and working collaboratively with the other units in the branch at all times.
The primary focus of this position is to establish corporate direction and lead the strategic planning cycle to ensure organizational alignment to collective outcomes. Responsibilities will include:
- Delivery of strategic and space planning projects that considers wholistic view of space use impacts.
- Strategic and Space planning work will be focused on customer service, involve high pace in frequently changing environment, requiring abilities to multi-task and focus on short term objectives towards achieving long term goals.
- Strategic Project Manager will provide regular data and reports on space use including providing recommendations with options on improvements to space utilization, functionality to Management.
- Stay up to date on best practices, technology, and planning in the industry of strategic and space planning.
- Provide studies and research when requested that are tailored to meet EPS operational requirements with respect to innovative strategic planning.
- Must be strong in working individually and as part of team with Facilities team and corporately with EPS operational strategic planning group with commitment to contribute with quality input within required timelines.
- Manager of Projects and Strategic Planning will work with Strategic PM on reviewing requests and assignments. Strong acumen in scope identification, estimating, and scheduling is critical to ensure all work is planned and delivered focused to be on-time and on-budget.
- Tracking of all space use across EPS that includes on site verification, updating CAD and Space Planning software with as-built information.
- Strategic and Space Planning projects will be the preliminary design objectives to transition over to the Project Team for completion of design and construction.
- Works integrated with facility project team to ensure strategy and projects are being executed, coordinated and inform strategic plans following consistent project management practices, documentation, and processes.
- Projects will include working with key stakeholders to ensure operational policing requirements are met as well as providing input to other strategic operational projects requiring facilities input.
- Communication with Business Areas to gather further information to process requests with a focus on expedient and excellent customer service.
- Commitment to keep track and expedite work quickly with ability triage requests requiring further planning, impact current projects or impact to overall strategic goals.
- Work closely with Moving and Furniture Contractor in an efficient manner as well as coordination with EPS Procurement and Supply Logistics on storage and inventory of furniture.
Qualifications- Completion of a four (4) year degree in a related field such as architecture and six (6) years directly related experience in project management for infrastructure planning. Experience in designing and constructing Policing Facilities. One (1) year supervisory experience considered an asset.
OR - Completion of a two (2) year diploma in a related field such as architecture or projects management and eight (8) years directly experience in project management for infrastructure planning. Experience in designing and constructing Policing Facilities. One (1) year supervisory experience considered and asset.

- Advanced computer skills, including Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Forms, Slides, etc.), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), FM: Systems (Facility Management & Workspace Solutions), as well as the ability to learn and adapt to evolving technology.
- Valid Class 5 drivers license required. Must have or qualify for a City of Edmonton driving permit OR must be willing to provide own vehicle and proof of business related public liability and damage issuance of $1,000,000. The Edmonton Police Service does provide mileage compensation.

- As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Salary Range: Salary Plan:21M, Salary Grade: 032, $51.171 - $65.301 (Hourly), $3,454.00 - $4,407.80 (Biweekly), $90,150.51 - $115,044.04 (Annually).
