Job summary

Mariner is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead end-to-end procurement for client engagements in Atlantic Canada. The role focuses on sourcing strategy, supplier evaluation, and negotiating terms, with close collaboration to meet commercial objectives.

You will manage supplier relations, drive cost improvements, and ensure adherence to governance and processes while supporting contract development and execution. This is a hands-on, fast-paced engagement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Procurement Manager, Procurement Lead, Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, or similar procurement role.
  • End-to-end sourcing and procurement activities experience.
  • Commercial negotiation and supplier management experience.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, contracting principles, and commercial risk.
  • Experience working directly with senior stakeholders and translating business requirements into procurement strategies.
  • Ability to quickly understand new organizations, priorities, and operating environments.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver effectively in a fast-paced, project-based environment.
  • Previous consulting or client-facing project experience is an asset.
  • Relevant procurement or supply chain qualifications or certifications are considered an asset.
  • Hands-on experience developing and managing RFPs, RFQs, and competitive procurement processes is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Managing end-to-end procurement activities across assigned categories, projects, or supplier engagements.
  • Working closely with client stakeholders to understand requirements, priorities, and commercial objectives.
  • Leading sourcing activities, including market engagement, supplier evaluation, selection, and negotiation.
  • Negotiating commercial terms and supporting contract development and execution.
  • Managing supplier relationships and addressing commercial, performance, and delivery issues as required.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce costs, improve value, and increase procurement efficiency.
  • Providing procurement guidance and recommendations to client stakeholders.
  • Ensuring procurement activities align with client policies, governance requirements, and established processes.
  • Managing procurement risks and escalating key issues where appropriate.
  • Providing clear reporting and updates on procurement activities, outcomes, risks, and deliverables.
