Job summary

The Town of Bridgewater seeks a Director of Planning and Development Services to lead the Planning, Sustainability, and Development Services departments. You will align with Council priorities, manage staff, and oversee budgets while guiding land use policy and development approvals.

Required are a planning degree, CIP eligibility, and a decade of planning experience with at least five in leadership. Proficiency in GIS, MS Office, and collaboration with stakeholders is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Degree in Planning or related field required.
• Eligibility for CIP membership preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of planning experience.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership/management experience.
• Thorough knowledge of MGA and planning by-laws.
• Strong understanding of local government procedures.
• Experience with project delivery and program management.
• Knowledge of GIS and spatial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Act as subject matter expert on land use and community planning.
• Research, report and advise Town Council on planning matters.
• Prepare Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use By-laws and Development Agreements.
• Oversee building and fire inspection services under inter-municipal agreements.
• Lead sustainability efforts including ICSP and climate plans.
