Job summary

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking a Pension & Benefits Specialist to support the Canadian workforce. You will manage multiple benefit plans, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with HR, Payroll, and vendors across the country.

The role includes administering enrolments, assisting with pension processes, and driving improvements within the Total Rewards team. Ideal candidates bring 4–6 years of related experience, a college or university degree, and familiarity with SAP and pension concepts.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Canadian benefits programs i.e. broad based and executive.
• Strong understanding of benefits legislation and compliance/filing requirements.
• A minimum of 4-6 years of related work experience and a college or university degree.
• 2-3 years of SAP and/or specific software experience required related to area of specialization.
• Completion or progression toward professional designations such as CEBS preferred.
• Knowledge of benefits and pension theory and practice, with the ability to use judgment in applying this knowledge when dealing with complex and confidential issues.
• Provide consultation and develop training materials.
• Ability to successfully navigate a fast-paced, complex, and changing work environment, while managing multiple and shifting priorities.
• Highly developed problem-solving ability and critical thinking skills.
• Strong ability to collaborate with internal clients and external vendors to achieve the best results and deliver the most value.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer benefits plans in compliance with policies and current legislation.
• Advise on benefit requirements and best practices for the business.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and employees on benefits elements nationwide.
• Provide timely responses to benefits inquiries from staff and retirees.
• Coordinate with service providers to resolve claims and coverage issues.
• Support ongoing benefits administration activities.
• Lead annual benefits enrolment project activities and communications.
• Ensure compliance with relevant benefits legislation.
• Support pension and retirement process improvements and audits.
• Prepare pension filings and related reports for renewal purposes.
• Assist in HR systems integration from a pension and benefits perspective.
• Prepare presentations and reports as required and support the Total Rewards team.
