Job summary

CHEO in Ottawa is seeking a Manager of Labour & Employee Relations to lead the organization’s labour relations and collective bargaining efforts. The role supports policy development and ensures compliance with legal requirements while fostering a collaborative workplace culture.

The successful candidate will oversee negotiations with unions, manage grievances, and guide management on labour relations practices within CHEO’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Manages the labour and employee relations function including collective bargaining, collective agreement application and administration, grievance and arbitration procedures, workplace complaints process, labour relations training, discipline and discharge, attendance awareness.
• Leads the Labour Relations team and supports the CTO in planning goals, objectives and strategies for CHEO's mission and vision.
• Leads in development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Leads CHEO's collective bargaining process and labour-management meetings.
• Monitors performance indicators (grievances, safety issues, employee engagement) and develops solutions for positive outcomes.
• Contributes to strategic HR program development and reports on key indicators to measure success.
• Performs duties per Occupational Health and Safety Act and CHEO policies.
• Other related duties as assigned.
