Job summary

Boart Longyear in Haileybury, Ontario, is seeking a Purchasing Officer to support drilling operations by purchasing materials and services. The role reports to the Canada Supply Chain Manager and holds accountability for all purchasing and material ordering, ensuring safety, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has a purchasing designation with at least 2 years of experience, strong English communication, and solid ERP/MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Purchasing designation and 2+ years' experience as purchasing agent.
• Experience in an international company preferred.
• Proven communication skills in English; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Issues purchase orders to approved suppliers on behalf of BLY for goods and services after obtaining required approvals.
• Ensures purchase orders are issued through ERP system and current PO status and delivery dates are maintained.
• Communicates with suppliers regarding open purchase orders to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of goods and services.
• Ensures competitive bids are secured from approved suppliers to obtain the best prices, quality, and on-time delivery.
• Coordinates with accounting, suppliers and others to resolve issues related to purchase orders and implements permanent solutions.
• Ensures all suppliers are on BLY approved supplier list.
• Meet with potential suppliers to negotiate pricing and set up buy opportunities for certain products.
• Analyzes costs, identifies opportunities and implements changes to reduce zone costs.
