Job summary

City of Hamilton is seeking a Director of Development Planning to provide strategic leadership and oversight of development review, approvals and city-building initiatives. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team within the Planning Division, drive long-range plans, and ensure alignment with provincial statutes and municipal policies.

Qualifications

University degree in urban/regional planning, with senior management experience.
Full professional membership (MCIP) or equivalent certification (RPP).
Strong analytical, strategic and policy development capabilities.
Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage budgets.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for development review and approvals.
Direct Planning Division to meet official plans, zoning and subdivision goals.
Ensure compliance with provincial statutes and municipal by-laws.
Respond to corporate and community proposals and environmental objectives.
Present city positions at hearings and public meetings.
