Job summary

The City of Hamilton is seeking a Project Manager, Development Engineering to lead the review and approval of development applications and related infrastructure design. Qualifications

• University degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
• Proven knowledge of land use planning, development control, municipal and private servicing, drainage and stormwater management.
• Thorough knowledge of statutes, regulations and by‑laws affecting the department/section.
• Experience managing a multi‑disciplinary staff in a unionized environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and coordinates infrastructure design approval through to implementation, including plan registration for land development projects.
• Liaises with developers, consultants and outside agencies on design and construction of development proposals.
• Assists in development and implementation of land development policies and procedures.
• Coordinates and provides engineering comments on planning applications, including Conditions of Approval.
• Mentors staff and leads by example to achieve technical performance goals.
• Ensures compliance with health and safety policies and city procedures.
