Job summary

Northern in London, ON seeks a fixed-term Controller to cover a 15-month maternity leave. You will lead all accounting operations as a strategic partner to the VP of Finance & Operations, combining hands-on accounting with mentoring a payroll and accounting team.

Responsibilities include full-cycle close, consolidated financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, treasury management, and cross‑border considerations with the U.S.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in accounting/finance with 3-5 years in Controller role.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and COSO internal controls.
• Experience with audits, tax compliance, and SR&ED claims.
• CPA designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own full month-, quarter-, and year-end close with consolidations.
• Lead financial reporting and ad hoc FP&A for executives.
• Oversee QuickBooks and ERP (Enspire) system integration.
• Manage tax, audits, and regulatory compliance in Canada and US.
• Coordinate cash, debt schedules, and treasury activities.
• Mentor payroll and accounting team and lead post-close integration.
