Job summary

Breakdown Services seeks a Controller to be the financial leader of our team, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and strategic analysis. This fully remote role in Canada will partner with owners to identify efficiency gains and profitability opportunities.

You will manage day-to-day accounting, coordinate with CPA partners, and drive scalable processes to support growth while maintaining compliance and accuracy across all financial activities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• CPA certification or additional accounting credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, vendor payments, and reconciliations.
• Maintain bookkeeping and financial reporting through QuickBooks Online with accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including statements and trial balances.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, expense tracking, and overall financial performance for operations decisions.
• Coordinate with external CPA partners across reporting, compliance, and year-end processes.
• Analyze financial data and provide reporting insights and recommendations to leadership.
• Develop, implement, and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and scalable processes.
• Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning aligned with growth.
• Assist with scaling objectives and cross-functional process improvements to enhance reporting.
