Job summary

PME Inc., part of the EllisDon group, is seeking a Purchasing Lead to build and develop a team of purchasers, manage the full purchasing cycle across multiple projects, and ensure cost‑effective procurement that supports field operations.

The role requires 5–8 years of purchasing experience, including 3–5 years in construction, strong negotiation, planning, and communication skills, and knowledge of Western Canada markets.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics, Construction Management, Commerce, or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of purchasing experience, including 3–5 years within the construction industry.
• Experience leading procurement teams; prior lead experience is a heavily favoured asset.
• Experience supporting self-performing heavy civil and infrastructure projects.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, rentals, and supplier networks across Western Canada.
• Ability to manage high-volume purchasing demands and multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach & develop a team of purchasers.
• Manage full purchasing cycle: requisitions, quotes, POs, expediting, delivery, and resolution.
• Handle high-volume purchasing across multiple projects with cost-effectiveness.
• Review project requirements, schedules, budgets, and lead times to prevent delays.
• Monitor market conditions, supplier capacity, and long-lead items to mitigate risk.
• Collaborate with PMs, Superintendents, Estimators, and Finance to align procurement with plans.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate POs and timely payments.
• Maintain procurement records and cost coding for audits.
