Job summary

EllisDon in Edmonton is seeking a Purchasing Lead to manage a team of purchasers and oversee the full purchasing cycle on multiple construction projects.

The role requires strong negotiation, planning, and leadership, with deep knowledge of construction materials, supplier networks, and procurement contracts; also collaborates across PMs, Estimators and Finance.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in the listed disciplines; equivalent combination may be considered.
• 5–8 years of purchasing experience, including 3–5 years within construction.
• Proven leadership experience leading a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach & develop a team of purchasers.
• Oversee full purchasing cycle from requisition to payment creation and processing.
• Manage high-volume purchasing across multiple projects and entities.
• Review project requirements, budgets, schedules to reduce field delays.
• Monitor market conditions, supplier capacity, and long-lead items to mitigate risks.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and volume discounts.
• Collaborate with PMs, Estimators, Finance to align procurement with schedules.
