Job summary

SV Law is a leading full-service law firm serving Guelph and Southwestern Ontario. We seek an experienced CFO to join the senior leadership team, driving financial discipline, strategy, and technology initiatives for sustained growth.

The CFO will align with the Managing Partner and Executive Committee, overseeing budgeting, profitability, client finance, and partner compensation while guiding digital adoption and AI integration across the firm.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required with at least five years of leadership in a professional services firm.
• Proven ability to balance hands-on delivery with strategic advisory to partners.
• Strong understanding of practice management, document management, and billing systems.
• Familiar with the Ontario legal market, Law Society regulations, and law firm economics.

Responsibilities

• Planning & Strategy – balance financial stability with transforming the firm’s systems and policies.
• Budgeting & Forecasting – direct annual budget cycle and profitability targets.
• Client & Finances – streamline client intake and improve financial hygiene.
• Lawyer Support – automate financial processes to let lawyers focus on client work.
• People & Culture – lead, develop and foster a proactive firm culture.
