The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is seeking a dynamic leader for the Assistant Deputy Minister's Office. This role involves providing strategic advice, managing complex issues, and leading key initiatives that impact transportation policies and programs across Ontario. Ministry of Transportation's, Oversight and Agency Governance Division oversees and supports the ministry's mandate to strengthen transportation agency and driver education program oversight and accountability in Ontario.

In this role, you will:
• Provide strategic advice and policy and program guidance• Work with and advise policy teams through all phases of the policy development process
• Conduct research and identify priorities and manage complex issues
• Provide leadership and build and maintain key relationships
• Coordinate projects with multi-disciplinary cross-sectoral teams
What you bring to the team
Leadership and Project Management Skills
You have:
• Leadership skills to guide the ministry and partners in discussions and lead professionals on program and policy projects
• Project management experience to plan, coordinate and direct work teams
Policy and Program Development Knowledge and Skills
You have:
• Policy and program development experience to identify, develop and review strategies
• Knowledge of decision-making processes, relevant legislation, policies, programs and priorities of the transportation sector to facilitate strategic planning
• Experience using research and environmental scanning to identify issues that have the potential to affect the direction of ministry policy and decision making.
• The ability to quickly identify priorities and issues, facilitate solutions, and coordinate product development and approval processes.
Relationship Building and Communication Skills
You have:
• Interpersonal, influencing and persuasion skills to provide advice, collaborate on issues management and work with internal and external stakeholders
• Presentation skills to provide advice and explain recommendations to colleagues and senior leadership
Analytical, Issues and Risk Management Skills
You can:
• Conduct research and identify gaps, conflicts, trends and issues
• Identify critical or potentially contentious issues and take quick action or provide recommendations on a response strategy
• Process and distil information from a range of sources
• Appropriately assess and mitigate risks
