Job summary

Sheridan Nurseries Etobicoke Garden Centre is seeking a Store Manager to lead operations, drive sales, and develop a high-performing team. You will oversee budgeting, guest service excellence, and store presentation across the season, ensuring safety and profitability.

The role requires strong leadership, analytical thinking, and a track record of managing budgets and KPIs. Availability for evenings, weekends, and peak seasons is expected in this on-site position.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive retail leadership experience with responsibility for sales, labour management, inventory control, and business performance.

Responsibilities

• Business Performance & Financial Management: Achieve sales, gross margin, labour, shrink, and profitability targets; analyze financial results and KPIs; develop and execute store business plans; drive labour productivity; monitor expenses while maintaining guest service standards.
• Leadership & Team Development: Build, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership and sales team; foster accountability and continuous development; recruit, onboard, train, and retain top talent; identify future leaders; lead through visibility and communication; promote teamwork, inclusion and retention.
• Guest Experience: Deliver an exceptional and consistent guest experience aligned with Sheridan Nurseries' values; ensure staff are knowledgeable and engaged; resolve customer concerns professionally while maintaining relationships.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure safe, efficient operations; oversee inventory, merchandising, receiving, seasonal transitions, and loss prevention; maintain store presentation and cleanliness.
• Continuous Improvement: Challenge processes, simplify work, improve efficiency, and reduce costs; foster a culture of innovation and practical solutions; monitor processes and implement improvements.

About the Job:

As Store Manager, you will lead one of Sheridan Nurseries' Garden Centres, accountable for driving sales growth, profitability, guest experience, operational excellence, and team development. You will build a high-performing culture, identify opportunities to improve efficiency, and create an exceptional shopping experience that inspires guests to return throughout the year.

Success in this role means developing people, growing market share, maximizing productivity, and finding innovative ways to strengthen the business in every season.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Performance & Financial Management

• Accountable for achieving sales, gross margin, labour, shrink, and profitability targets.
• Analyze financial results and key performance indicators to identify opportunities and drive corrective action.
• Develop and execute store business plans to increase sales, profitability and traffic.
• Drive labour productivity through effective scheduling, workload management, and resource allocation.
• Monitor and control expenses while ensuring exceptional guest service standards.

Leadership & Team Development

• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership and sales team.
• Create a culture of accountability, engagement, recognition, and continuous development.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and retain top talent.
• Identify and develop future leaders through succession planning and talent development.
• Lead through visibility, communication, and active involvement on the sales floor.
• Foster a positive and engaging workplace culture that promotes teamwork, inclusion, and employee retention.

Guest Experience

• Deliver an exceptional and consistent guest experience that reflects Sheridan Nurseries' values and reputation.

• Ensure all team members are knowledgeable, engaged, and focused on providing outstanding service.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and effectively while maintaining long‑term customer relationships.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure the store operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Oversee inventory management, merchandising, receiving, seasonal transitions, and loss prevention initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of store presentation, cleanliness, and visual merchandising.

Continuous Improvement

• Challenge existing processes and identify opportunities to simplify work, improve efficiency, and reduce unnecessary costs.
• Lead a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and practical solutions from team members.
• Monitor operational processes and implement improvements that enhance both the guest and employee experience.

Wage Range: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00
