Job summary

NTPC – Northwest Territories Power Corporation seeks a Warehouse/Logistics Assistant to join the Supply Chain Management team in supporting Thermal and Hydro regions and head office operations.

You will receive, ship and stock items, manage inventory, and assist with maintenance at the Head Office warehouse. The role requires forklift operation, TDG/WHMIS training, and a Class 5 NT license, with strong Excel/Word proficiency and solid communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Three years of warehousing experience.
  • Ability to operate forklift and loaders.
  • Valid Class 5 NT driver's license.
  • Ability to follow WHMIS and TDG requirements.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts incoming freight and ensures items match orders; resolves discrepancies with vendors or staff.
  • Code and approve standard and contract invoices.
  • Supply materials to various trades and sites; pack outgoing material per regs.
  • Enter Inventory Transfer to Site / to Project; perform inventory counts and reconcile variances.
  • Operate storeyard equipment (forklift, loader), maintain tools and MSDS documentation.
  • Assist with warehouse repairs, housekeeping, and safety compliance; support maintenance at facilities.
  • Provide support for transportation routing by water, air, and road; maintain stock records.

Job description

Participates as a member of the Supply Chain Management team, performing supply chain logistics functions for the Thermal and Hydro regions as well as maintenance support functions to the Head Office and support operational needs as required. This includes receiving and shipping stock from internal and external sources, providing stock management and inventory control support, running daily errands and assisting with maintenance at the Head Office warehouse and other corporation facilities. This position will also be available to support other operational needs as required. The incumbent will ensure all work is performed in accordance with Corporation policy and procedures and Canadian regulations and standards such as WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods.

  • Accepts incoming freight and ensures parts/items received correspond with order. Identifies and addresses any discrepancies with vendor, contractor and/or employee who placed the order.
  • Code and approve standard and contract invoices.
  • Supplies materials to various trade groups, satellite plants, and other areas as requested.
  • Packages and/or crates all outgoing material in accordance with applicable government regulations.
  • Enter Inventory Transfer to Site / Inventory Transfer to Project transaction.
  • Performs inventory counts in satellite plants, reconcile identified variance by looking back at previous transactions in the system. Identifies any discrepancies to the Supplies Inventory Coordinator.
  • Performs yard maintenance such as organization of stock/materials, disposal of garbage, removal of snow or debris using appropriate equipment such as loader and/or snow blower.
  • Performs maintenance/ repairs in warehouse. Arranges for service or repairs for any building/mechanical problems and addresses any major work required to building to Supervisor.
  • Examines tools and equipment and initiates repairs or replacement as required.
  • Administers inventory of tools and equipment kept in the storeroom for various trades, such as test equipment, protective/safety equipment, line tools and mechanics tools. Monitors usage, location and addresses overdue items. Ships tools/ equipment to NTPC employees and contractors as required.
  • Ensures Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are filed in master binder and distributes updated or new sheets for the Region.
  • Operates all equipment used in and around storeroom such as forklift, pallet jack, pickup truck, Genie and loader.
  • High school diploma or GED required, and a minimum of three years warehousing experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods and WHMIS training provided upon hire.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be experienced with operation of loader and forklift.
  • Valid class 5 NT drivers licence with clean driver's abstract required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of transportation routing via water, air, and road.
  • Good planning, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Successful candidate must provide a satisfactory criminal records check, which must be provided prior to starting date.

Salary for this position ranges from $42.96/hr-$52.18/hr. plus a location allowance of approximately $3,823 per annum. We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes health and dental benefits, disability insurance, life insurance, paid sick days and a defined benefits pension plan.
