Job summary

Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver is seeking a Stewarding Supervisor to lead daily stewarding operations and uphold top cleanliness standards in support of our Culinary and Banquets teams.

Reporting to the Chief Steward, you will supervise dishwashing, ensure sanitation, train and coach colleagues, manage inventory and collaborate across departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

  • Experience in stewarding or kitchen operations with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong sanitation, hygiene, and safety knowledge.
  • Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Teamwork and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily stewarding operations including dishwashing and waste management.
  • Keep kitchens, restaurants, banquets clean, organized, and sanitized.
  • Coordinate stewarding coverage based on business levels.
  • Ensure compliance with health regulations, WHMIS, and safety standards.
  • Maintain proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Support food safety standards including HACCP.
  • Lead, train, and motivate the Stewarding team.
  • Onboard new colleagues and provide training.
  • Monitor inventory and equipment; report maintenance issues.
  • Collaborate with Culinary, Banquets, and F&B teams for smooth ops.
  • Communicate needs for events and high-volume periods.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Be Doing

Reporting to the Chief Steward, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise daily stewarding operations, including dishwashing, pot washing, kitchen cleaning, and waste management
  • Ensure all kitchens, restaurants, banquet areas, and back-of-house spaces are clean, organized, and sanitized at all times
  • Coordinate stewarding coverage based on business levels and operational needs
  • Ensure compliance with local health regulations, WHMIS, and workplace safety standards
  • Maintain proper use, handling, and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Support food safety standards, including HACCP guidelines
  • Conduct regular inspections and follow up on corrective actions
  • Lead, train, and motivate the Stewarding team, fostering a positive and respectful work environment
  • Ensure new colleagues receive proper onboarding and training
  • Monitor performance, provide coaching, and support development of team members
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of dishwashing machines and other stewarding equipment
  • Report maintenance issues and coordinate repairs as needed
  • Work closely with Culinary, Banquets, and Food & Beverage teams to support smooth operations
  • Communicate effectively with leaders to anticipate needs for events, banquets, and high-volume periods
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Additional Information
Your Team And Working Environment

You will be part of the Stewarding and Culinary Operations team, working closely with Chefs, Food & Beverage leaders, and Banquets to support the hotel’s daily operations and special events. As a Stewarding Supervisor, you will lead a diverse and hardworking team of stewards, playing a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient back-of-house environment. Your leadership and collaboration will directly support the success of our kitchens and the overall guest experience.
