Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and direction to internal and external bodies including travelling passengers, staff, airport authorities, and other internal and external groups.
  • Answer phones/emails and provide administrative support to a medium-sized staff (approximately 15-30).
  • Report to Owner/Operator and Manager on an as-needed (daily) basis.
  • Ensure company policies and airline/government requirements are adhered to.
  • Maintain safety, on-call readiness and training compliance.

Job description

MAINTAIR AVIATION SERVICES has a 35+ year history of providing safe, best in class aviation ground handling services. We are currently seeking candidates for part-time STATION COORDINATOR based in Saint John, NB.

JOB SUMMARY

The Station Coordinator (ATW & BTW) is a leadership role that works under the direction of the Manager’s and Owner/Operator’s, and is part of the overall Maintair Family. They will support and work alongside all areas of the company and foster the team atmosphere of Maintair. The Coordinator ensures shift leads, staff, passengers & customers are handled according to specific company policies & procedures, including airline requirements. Quality customer service, workplace operations, attention to detail, safety and teamwork are key components to be a successful Coordinator. Conflict resolution, human resources, finance and training are also daily functions. The ideal candidate must possess solid leadership, multi-tasking and verbal/written communication skills, be energetic, outgoing, understanding and accepting of change. The Coordinator must also be flexible and able to deal with the adapting nature of aviation, Canada Labour Code and governmental requirements. The role represents Maintair, its customers, and staff, and therefore must present a professional, unwavering leadership character. The station coordinator is a hands‑on position, expected to remain current in all training and/or company requirements to fulfill team support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support and direction to a variety of internal and external bodies including travelling passengers, staff, airport authorities, and other internal and external groups.
  • Answer phones/emails and provide administrative support and clerical functions to a medium sized staff (approximately 15-30).
  • Report to Owner/Operator’s and Manager’s on an as-needed (daily) basis.
  • Ensure company policies are being adhered to, as well as governmental and airline policies.
  • Ensure company budgets and finance related targets are met.
  • Liaise with airport authorities and other carriers for operational efficiency.
  • Be available on an on-call basis (cell phone incentive provided).
  • Updating internal operations requirements, including station audits.
  • Maintain and exceed service levels and ensure target OTP and performance levels are met for client carriers.
  • Ensure all training is current and up to date for all departments.
  • Remain current in all air carrier policies and procedures.
  • Be available to fill vacant shifts on the schedule.
  • Maintain and ensure a safe work environment for all staff.
  • Be available to travel on short or no notice.
  • Be hands‑on and work with the team ensuring safety and efficiency are priority.
  • Ensure the safe operation of all GSE and related equipment and report violations.
  • Ensure staff are completing daily inspection of all equipment.
  • Ensure GSE and related equipment is serviced, kept clean and usable at all times.
  • Liase with GSE Manager & Technician’s.
  • Complete equipment deficiency and hazard reports as required.
  • Monitor and if required perform de‑icing operations.
  • Ensure published uniform standards and PPE requirements are met.
  • Promote and engage in the company Safety Management Program (SMP).
  • Manage company grooming activities and stores.
  • Coordinate training when required on varied airline, company and governmental topics.
  • Monitor external contracts for carrier clients (catering, hoteliers, service providers, etc).
  • Liase with Management Team.
  • Liase with Corporate HQ (Thunder Bay).
  • Other duties as assigned by senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum College Diploma and/or University Degree with equivalent experience in operational management.
  • Minimum 5 years previous operations/ground handling/transportation experience.
  • Must have clean criminal record and be able to obtain a Restricted Area Pass (RAIC).
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office, Windows, Google, and proprietary computer programs.
  • Excellent keyboarding skills are essential.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills, and operational skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and/or in a team environment working varied and on call.
  • Must be able to respond to the airport with short notice (30 minutes).
