Niagara Belco Elevator Inc. is seeking a Stairlift Diagnostics & Field Support Technician to support installation and service teams.

The role blends electrical fault-finding with hands-on mechanical work on stairlifts, vertical platform lifts, and related equipment. The candidate will diagnose faults remotely or on-site, guide technicians by phone, email, and video, and maintain clear records for knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Proven electrical fault-finding skills with low-voltage systems, controls, and wiring.
• Solid mechanical aptitude, including motors, moving assemblies, alignment, and wear parts.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Clear communicator who can guide a technician through a repair over the phone.
• Patient, methodical approach to troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for technicians who need help diagnosing lift faults in the field.
• Walk installers and service techs through fault-finding steps by phone, email, and video.
• Trace electrical faults across controllers, PCBs, harnesses, limit switches, sensors, and power supplies.
• Identify and resolve mechanical problems involving motors, gear assemblies, rail alignment, and drive mechanisms.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, exploded views, and manufacturer service manuals.
• Recommend repairs, part replacements, and adjustments based on diagnostic findings.
• Keep clear records of reported issues, root causes, and fixes to build an internal knowledge base.
• Escalate complex cases to equipment manufacturers and coordinate advanced troubleshooting.
• Identify recurring failure patterns and share findings with the service and installation teams.
• Assist with bench testing of returned or suspect components as needed.

About the Position

Niagara Belco Elevator Inc. is hiring an Stairlift Diagnostics & Field Support Technician to serve as the technical backbone for our installation and service teams. This is a hands‑on, electromechanical role focused on fault‑finding and remote diagnostic support for stairlifts, vertical platform lifts, and related accessibility equipment.

The work is roughly two‑thirds electrical (control systems, wiring, power) and one‑third mechanical (drives, motors, rails). You will spend your day helping technicians on site solve real‑world equipment problems, not answering computer or software questions.

Please note: This is not an IT, helpdesk, software, or call‑centre position. Candidates whose background is mainly in computer or application support will not be considered.

What We're Looking For

• Comfortable supporting trades professionals in the field rather than end users
• Hands‑on experience with stairlifts, elevators, platform lifts, escalators, or similar electromechanical equipment is a strong asset

This Role Is NOT

Experience

• Electrical troubleshooting: 1 year (required)
• Electrical schematic reading: 1 year (required)

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
