The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to contribute their expertise in tax compliance and financial reporting within a forward-thinking firm that fosters a great work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Prepare and file personal (T1) , corporate (T1) , trust (T3), and partnership income tax returns accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and finalize corporate Financial Completions (Formerly know as Notice to Reader) financial statements and other financial reports.
• Assist clients with various tax matters, including responding to CRA inquiries and assisting with CRA audits or reviews.
• Manage client engagements efficiently, prioritizing and balancing multiple files to meet deadlines.
• Contribute to workflow management internally and with the tax team, providing guidance and support where needed.
• Actively participate in training and professional development opportunities to support your growth and enhance the team's collective knowledge.
• Responsible for identifying and resolving engagement issues proactively.

A successful candidate will have:

• 3+ years of private company public accounting experience is a must
• Strong corporate and personal Canadian taxation knowledge; experience with trust and partnership taxation is an asset.
• Proven experience in preparing and finalizing corporate financial statements.
• Experience in dealing with CRA audits, inquiries and strong knowledge of CRA online services
• Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a great dynamic team.
• Ability to recognize and analyze problems, propose sound alternatives and conclusions.
• Be adaptable to learning and utilizing new technologies and processes to help improve efficiency and provide a better user experience for our clients.

Software Skills Required:

• Proficiency in learning and utilizing new technology for increased efficiency and improved client experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard accounting and tax software, including:
• QuickBooks Online (QBO)
• QuickBooks Desktop
• Intuit Profile tax software
• CASEWARE
• Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) - Excellent computer skills, particularly in Word and Excel.
• Experience with CRA Online Services is a must
• Experience with other cloud-based accounting and payment platforms such as Xero, Wave Accounting, Hubdoc/Dext, Plooto, WagePoint, Payment Evolution is considered a strong asset.
