Job summary

General Motors of Canada is seeking a Staff Systems Architect – Body Controls Co‑Simulation in Markham. You will own end‑to‑end CoSim architecture for Body controls, defining packages, configurations, and CI‑pipeline integration within the VnSI organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Computer/Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded software, systems engineering, or controls, with substantial time in simulation, SIL/HIL, or Co‑Simulation.
  • Proven track record as a System Architect, Software/System Engineer, or SIL/CoSim lead across multiple programs.
  • Strong understanding of body electronics/controls (vehicle access, cabin thermal, occupant positioning, lighting, visibility, occupant protection, vehicle state).
  • Hands‑on experience with SIL or Co‑Simulation environments, including virtual ECUs, plant models, and communication models.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for plant/behavior models and familiarity with FMI/SSP standards.
  • Strong skills in C/C++ and Python; experience with automated build/CI tools (Jenkins, Git, gcc/gdb, Eclipse).
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, automotive Ethernet; ability to model or configure RestBus in simulation.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional technical discussions, drive consensus, and trade‑offs across performance, quality, and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural leadership for body‑controls Co‑Simulation across the VnSI Body Domain and set the long‑term vision for CoSim capabilities.
  • Define high‑level CoSim architecture for body controls, aligning with SDV direction and infrastructure.
  • Define variant and configuration management strategy for CoSim packages across programs and model years.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure CoSim architecture is understood and adopted across teams.
  • Define SIMBOMs mapping test requirements to CoSim assets for each configuration.
  • Establish standards for CoSim packaging, documentation, versioning, and release notes.
  • Ensure CoSim deliveries integrate into CI pipelines and GM networks/diagnostics.
  • Own RestBus and behavioral modeling architecture within CoSim, including network patterns and performance budgets.
  • Support CI/CD for virtual ECUs and CoSim packages and align with quality gates.
  • Provide mentorship on CoSim modeling, RestBus design, and SDV concepts.
