Job summary

General Motors in Ontario seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to define and validate end-to-end vehicle data collection capabilities across embedded, edge, cloud, and data platforms. You will translate product intent into verifiable requirements and oversee architecture alignment.

This hybrid role requires collaboration with software, systems, operations, and program management, delivering traceable verification, observability, and deployment readiness across vehicle programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, validation, or architecture.
• Experience defining end-to-end system requirements across embedded, vehicle networks, cloud services, and data platforms.
• Experience using DOORS, Rhapsody, Jira for requirements and project management.
• Experience in system architecture, interface definition, and technical decomposition.
• Experience building verification strategies, test plans, and coverage models.
• Strong understanding of observability, logs, metrics, traces, and dashboards.
• Experience with vehicle or edge data collection systems and telemetry pipelines.
• Ability to collaborate across systems engineering, software, operations, testing, product, and program management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end systems requirements for vehicle data collection and data engineering.
• Drive systems architecture alignment across embedded, gateway, cloud ingestion, and data platforms.
• Own verification planning including criteria, scope, and evidence for release readiness.
• Define observability requirements for performance, fault behavior, and data transport.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure readiness for deployment across vehicle programs.
