Job summary

The Manitoba Government is seeking a qualified Staff Sergeant for the Conservation Officer Service, based in Gimli, Manitoba. The role leads enforcement activities, ensures compliance with natural resource legislation, and oversees wildlife, fishery, crown land, and forestry programs within the area.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a minimum two-year program in resource management studies or environmental management studies
• Extensive knowledge and experience enforcing natural resource legislation, law enforcement and legislative compliance
• Experience supervising staff, including performance management and labour relations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to travel and work irregular shifts, including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

• The Staff Sergeant is responsible for the management and delivery of the Conservation Officer Service enforcement mandate, including legislation compliance and parks safety and security at the area level.
• Manage the Department’s wildlife, fishery, crown land, and forestry programs within the area.
• May be involved in wildfire suppression duties.
• Lead and support the delivery of public safety and natural resource stewardship within Gimli, MB.
