Job summary

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a minimum two-year program in resource management studies or environmental management studies
  • Extensive knowledge and experience enforcing natural resource legislation, law enforcement and legislative compliance
  • Experience supervising staff, including performance management and labour relations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel and work irregular shifts, including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

  • The Staff Sergeant is responsible for the management and delivery of the Conservation Officer Service enforcement mandate, including legislation compliance and parks safety and security at the area level.
  • Manage the Department’s wildlife, fishery, crown land, and forestry programs within the area.
  • May be involved in wildfire suppression duties.
  • Lead and support the delivery of public safety and natural resource stewardship within Gimli, MB.
