Job summary

Affirm is seeking an experienced App Infrastructure technical leader to shape the mobile stack across React Native and Expo. You will own strategy, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with product, design, and analytics to align technical work with business goals.

You will mentor engineers, set standards, and ensure reliable operations with robust monitoring and on-call readiness, while staying ahead of platform changes in RN and OS updates.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing and architecting mobile applications.
• 4+ years using React Native.
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Hands-on with React Native and Expo; authored or migrated native modules/components.
• Experience with complex state management in React apps; Redux Toolkit bonus.
• Experience with React Native SDK updates and debugging across JS-native boundary.
• Familiar with native OS release implications for RN apps.
• Experience with mobile testing/observability tools (Maestro/Appium, Sentry/Crashlytics).
• Familiar with AI-assisted development tools and applying guardrails for quality.
• Proven track record delivering major features and driving teams.
• Able to operate in ambiguity and contribute to architecture of large systems.
• Strong communication with global engineering teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field.

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.

• Act as a force-multiplier by defining technical solutions and playbooks.
• Own team operations and availability with monitoring and on-call readiness.
