Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to advance end-to-end AI solutions on edge devices. You will work with petabyte-scale data across text, diagnostics, video, and sensor streams, collaborating with ML engineers, scientists, and firmware teams to deliver core product features and optimizations.

This remote role is open to candidates residing in Canada, with up to 5% travel and no relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer.
• Strong experience optimizing ML models for edge compute constraints.
• Proficient in Python; proficient in C++ or Rust for production code.
• Ability to distill requirements into crisp problem definitions and communicate with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of critical AI initiatives on Edge devices.
• Develop both tactical AI solutions and long‑term research.
• Work with large-scale data including text, sensor, and video from customer ops.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, scientists, and firmware teams to deliver features.
• Stay connected to research and adopt new tech to fit Samsara’s needs.
• Model and promote Samsara’s principles to scale globally.
