Job summary

Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel is seeking motivated self-starters for our Staff Cafeteria 'The Bean'. Join a luxury hotel brand in a scenic Alberta location and develop your culinary or guest services skills while interacting daily with colleagues and leaders.

Starting at $20.47 per hour, with raises after six months and at three years up to $23.33. Subsidized on-site housing, a complimentary meal per shift, and a comprehensive benefits package await full-time permanent status employees.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of food and beverage experience, including light kitchen prep.
• Valid Canadian Food Handlers Certification.
• Familiar with professional chef knives and basic knife cuts.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent time management in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive in anticipating guest needs during 30-minute breaks.

Responsibilities

• Support daily staff cafeteria operations by setting up service areas and restocking.
• Prepare and assist with cooking, seasoning, presenting foods per recipes.
• Maintain food safety and quality with FIFO, labeling, allergens, and temperature logs.
• Deliver friendly, professional service and keep dining areas stocked and welcoming.
• Uphold cleanliness and sanitation across work areas and equipment.
• Follow Fairmont standards and complete additional duties as required.

Starting Rate:

$20.47 per hour

We recognize tenure through our compensation. Hourly rates increase after six months, and yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $23.33.

Job Duties Include:

• Support daily staff cafeteria operations by setting up service areas, restocking stations, and ensuring a smooth, uninterrupted buffet flow
• Prepare and assist with cooking, seasoning, and presenting food items in accordance with recipes, quality standards, and Chef direction
• Maintain food safety and quality by following FIFO procedures, accurate labeling, allergen awareness, and temperature logging
• Deliver friendly, professional service while keeping dining areas stocked, organized, and welcoming
• Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards across all work areas, equipment, dishes, and service items
• Follow all Fairmont standards, culinary procedures, and complete additional duties as required

• Valid Canadian Food Handlers Certification
• Familiarity with professional chef knives and tools, with the ability to perform basic knife cuts
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Committed to delivering high levels of customer service and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive in anticipating needs, understanding that internal guests have only 30 minutes for their break
