Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for the Notification Hub & Experience to lead architecture and technical strategy at scale. You will influence cross-functional teams, drive personalisation across the notification lifecycle, and push for AI-enabled improvements that enhance user engagement.

You will balance immediate conversion value with long-term reachability, mentor engineers, and own reliability, latency, and observability across a high-throughput backend system.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering with Staff-level impact.
• Experience designing and scaling distributed systems.
• Experience applying AI in the software development.

Responsibilities

• Define and own multi-quarter technical strategy for the notification hub and experience team.
• Architect the notification system and experience for a personalized, scalable solution.
• Drive architecture decisions across relevance, latency, and system complexity.
• Mentor and grow engineers through design reviews and coaching.
• Collaborate with product, design, data science, and infra teams to align strategies.
