Job description

TAAG is a multidisciplinary firm offering a wide range of services for small and medium-sized businesses, individuals, governmental and non-governmental organizations. TAAG’s service lines include accounting and bookkeeping, tax planning, multi-family office services including wealth management, business and corporate law, and marketing and design. We are currently seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team.

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with the day-to-day accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform full cycle accounting duties, including bookkeeping and financial operations.
  2. Maintain the general ledger by posting journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
  3. Perform personal and corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, along with related schedules.
  4. Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  5. Complete periodic bank reconciliations.
  6. Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  7. Prepare and file HST returns and payroll remittances.
  8. Prepare Tax assessments and reassessments for confirmation and accuracy.
  9. Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes.
  10. Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients.
  11. Work collaboratively with members of the Staff Accounting team to achieve shared goals.
  12. Actively promote the firm’s services to clients and prospects.

Qualifications:

  1. At least two years of relevant work experience, preferably with small-to-medium businesses.
  2. Holds an accounting designation (CGA, CA, CMA, CPA) or is actively pursuing a CPA with a post-secondary degree in accounting.
  3. Familiarity with GAAP/ASPE is preferred.
  4. Proficient in Excel, Sage Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, Tax Prep, and CaseWare.
  5. Skilled at managing challenging situations with sound judgment and effective problem-solving.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to address client inquiries in person, by phone, and in writing.
  7. Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and capable of meeting tight deadlines.
  8. A collaborative and supportive team player.
  9. Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
