Job summary

Elby Professional Recruitment is seeking a Staff Accountant for a 12-month contract in Mississauga. The role supports the Assistant Controller in the monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting within a manufacturing context.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance, 3+ years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP), and CPA progression is a plus. Eligible to work in Canada is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• CPA designation or progress toward it is an asset.
• Proficient in Excel with Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense entries.
• Complete GL, bank, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Help prepare financial statements and reporting packages.
• Track and reconcile inventory and equipment financing records.
• Assist with audits and compliance reporting.
• Provide backup support to AP, AR, and payroll as needed.
• Contribute to process improvements and special projects.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies.
