Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. The primary role will be to carry out Electrical Design activities related to the Metrolinx Corridors.

You'll be providing Signaling design support activity related to engineering changes requested by our customers and inputs received from the Correlation activities. Be responsible for the upkeep of electrical core data (schematics and wiring). Day-to-day, you’ll work closely within the Signaling Engineering Design team for Alstom.

We’ll look to you for:

1. Developing electrical installation/wiring solutions for modifications developed by the System's team or from external 3rd parties and handle/manage the upkeep of the affected core electrical data. This involves updating electrical schematics, wiring tables, BOMs (Bill of Materials), creating cable installation routing diagrams, Book of Plans, Single and double line drawings etc.
2. Preparing modification design data, analyze, develop, test and demonstrate Electrical Engineering solutions that solve complex issues for vehicle installation requirements.
3. Providing electrical design cost and schedule estimates on complicated engineering programs.
4. Providing technical expertise in support of other teams.
5. Responding promptly to (TQ's) technical queries raised by the customer against design data.

Required

1. Signaling Design processes understanding (interlocking, ETCS)
2. Knowledge of signaling principles and translation of principles into application logic.
3. Engineering and system background.
4. Railway transport training certification
5. Familiar with railway signaling standards (AREMA, EN Standards)
6. Working experience with AutoCAD

All about you

1. The job-holder will need to demonstrate sufficient experience as a Design engineer of wayside systems and wiring.
2. The candidate must be fully competent in using AutoCAD, Draft Sight and wiring tools to update electrical core data. Therefore, full proficiency in the use of AutoCAD & Draft Sight and Excel are key requirements for this role in order to update electrical schematics and wiring data.
3. Have exposure to the use of Digital Mock Ups (CAD modelling) of harnesses, electrical cubicles/equipment, updating or creating new electrical schematics, wiring reports.
4. Demonstrate a working knowledge of design Standards related to railway wayside design.
5. An understanding of the optimum and standardization approach to wiring solutions is required to be able to deploy cable routes and materials to achieve optimum installation times.
6. Have a sound understanding of electrical engineering principles and be able to understand system functions and interpret circuit diagrams.
7. Demonstrate design experience in a highly complex and normative environment (Railway signaling and communication, wayside, CBTC, ETCS).
8. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering.
9. P.Eng licensed (required).
10. May require to support in the field as needed.
