As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles. The GO Expansion scope : new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

Alstom is seeking an Overhead Catenary System (OCS) CAD Designer. This individual will be responsible for delivering Design submissions.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and Review basic and detailed design drawings for the project
  • Integrate Technical Interface requirements from internal and external stakeholders
  • Establish required interfaces drawings for interface management
  • Prepare and submit BIM format documents when applicable
  • Provide support on OCS topics to System Engineering team
  • Technical interface with Customer to provide support to OCS Sub-system and OCS Design Lead
  • Definition of Design inputs required
  • Support Survey team/subcontractor during survey campaigns
  • Bill of Quantities (BOQ) elaboration, review and update
  • Support on arbitration on architecture definition between the subsystems to reach the best compromise for the OCS design
  • Participate in collecting REX on OCS design
  • Checking of suppliers, sub-contractors and in-house OCS designs and ensure technical compliance
  • Preparation, review and getting approval of design deliverables
  • CAD/BIM OCS documents preparation and review

The OCS team is mainly composed of on-shore located in Toronto, Canada, and off-shore part located in St-Ouen, France.

Reporting

This position will report to the OCS Design Leader.

The candidate will liaise with:

  • Engineering: Central Engineering and Transverse Engineering team
  • Project: Project management team,
  • Site: Construction management team,
  • Customer, Consultants, External stakeholders,
  • Civil Works and Track works partners,
  • Interfacing sub-systems (Rolling Stock, Trackwork, OCS, Signalling, Civil works)
  • Regional Centers.

Performance Measurements

  • Respect of performances of the system provided: 100%.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or scientific subjects
  • Already worked in a BIM-integrated design environment

Experience

  • A minimum of two-threeyears of experience in mechanical/structural CAD engineering
  • A first experience in OCS Installation project is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Canada standards and common practices
  • Autonomy, motivated, initiative, innovative, team spirit
  • Fluent in English, second language appreciated
  • Proficient using BIM/CAD softwares
  • Interpersonal skills (teamwork and leadership)
  • Decision-making ability
  • Analytical and critical thinking
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Resilience
