Job description

Imagine receiving the AEC industry's most innovative, challenging, and provocative designs from leading-edge architects, designers, and artists. Now imagine that it's your job to develop them from sketch to reality in a workplace that fosters creativity, champions problem-solving and resourcefulness, and encourages the pursuit of new ideas.

If this seems like it would be both exhilarating and fulfilling, consider joining Eventscape as a Sr. Project Designer. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a passion for challenging and unique projects, supported by broad knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and construction methods.

WHO ARE WE?

Eventscape is a global leader in the custom architectural fabrication space, thriving on challenging design and striving for innovation towards one shared goal: to build the extraordinary!

We are the industry's go-to partner for complex and cutting-edge turn-key projects -- engineering, fabricating, and installing boundary-pushing designs for top architects, designers, developers, contractors, and artists. Our projects are unconstrained by material, scale, form, or complexity. Recent projects include feature ceilings for world-class concert halls, visionary public art pieces, showpiece projects for major league arenas, custom architectural features for the world’s largest tech companies, and innovative environments for major retail brands.

How do we do it? By refining design concepts; by providing expertise on materiality, finishes, details, and fabrication methods; and by embracing R+D as a critical part of each project. Eventscape houses dedicated project managers, design detailers, engineers, fabricators, and installers. All this, combined with state-of-the-art machinery, means we truly are an architectural toy factory—We build things others can’t.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sr. Project Designer position will:

  • create comprehensive design packages (submittals, production drawings, installation drawings, sketches, and prototypes)
  • coordinate frequently with clients, project managers, and our in-house fabrication departments over the life of each complex architectural project
  • create and maintain design schedules; manage shifting priorities; ensure project deadlines are met
  • practice a continual improvement philosophy to reduce project costs
  • specify materials to be used on project and ensure specifications adhere to client, project, and local jurisdiction standards
  • be able to lead a team of designers; mentor junior colleagues; facilitate collaboration to meet project deadlines and deliverables
  • work on several projects concurrently
  • verify the site dimensions in the field, both internal and adjacent scope, to ensure proper fit
  • practice astute management of risk, resources, timelines, quality, and expectations

ABOUT YOU
To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • 6+ years' experience in architectural/industrial design, ideally in a design-build and/or high-end custom setting
  • a strong understanding of building systems, materials, construction methods, and architectural detailing
  • some hands-on fabrication experience and/or exposure to multiple materials and fabrication processes
  • post-secondary education in architecture, engineering, industrial design, or similar
  • experience in managing large-scale, complex architectural/industrial design projects
  • 3+ years experience in leading teams and mentorship
