Job summary

Alstom is seeking an experienced professional to manage contract and claims activities across complex rail projects in Canada. You will work with Project Management, Legal, Finance, and Operations to safeguard Alstom’s interests and ensure successful project execution.

Role requires a law/engineering/finance/business background and 10+ years in contract/claim or project management. Strong English, analytical, and communication skills are essential for collaboration across functions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Law, Engineering, Finance, Technical, Economics, or Business Sciences.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Contract/Claim Management or Project Management.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to interpret contractual documents, terms, conditions, and financial implications.
  • Experience with project management software, contract management systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Operational effectiveness, accountability, and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Willingness to bring forward creative ideas and innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive contract management activities with CMS resources.
  • Develop and implement Contract Management Strategy Plans (CMSP).
  • Ensure consistent application of governance and CCIM.
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure contractual milestones are met.
  • Prepare and manage claims/counterclaims and supporting documentation for negotiations.
  • Provide training on contract and claim management to key stakeholders across the project.

Your future role

"Take on a new challenge and apply your contract and claims management expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and detail-oriented teammates. You’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding Alstom’s interests and driving the successful execution of projects by preparing, coordinating, and managing contract and claims strategies throughout the project lifecycle. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Management, Legal, Finance, and Operations), ensure compliance with Alstom’s governance and best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives—and much more."

We’ll look to you for:

  • Driving contract management activities with the support of allocated resources, such as Project Contract Managers or Contract Administrators.
  • Developing and implementing Contract Management Strategy Plans (CMSP) in collaboration with the core project team.
  • Ensuring the consistent application of Alstom’s governance, including the Contract, Claims, and Insurance Management Manual (CCIM).
  • Monitoring project schedules and ensuring all contractual milestones are met.
  • Preparing and managing claims/counterclaims and supporting documentation for negotiations.
  • Providing training on contract and claim management to key stakeholders across the project.

A degree in Law, Engineering, Finance, Technical, Economics, or Business Sciences.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Contract/Claim Management or Project Management.

Experience with project management software, contract management systems, and Microsoft Office tools.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively.

The expected compensation for this role is$110,000 – $150,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
