This position reports to the Chief Metallurgical Engineer.

Location: Vanscoy, Saskatchewan

Pay Band: K, L, or M. The title and salary offered will be based on experience and education.

Responsibilities include:

1. Maintain and configure Surface / Mill Foxboro DCS and associated equipment.
2. Maintain and configure Surface / Mill Rockwell PLCs and associated equipment.
3. Integrate instrumentation, smart starters, VFDs, etc., with DCS & PLC systems.
4. Manage the automation work backlog, prioritizing based on operational needs.
5. Assist Electrical and Instrumentation personnel with maintenance and commissioning.
6. Support daily operations and troubleshoot issues.
7. Maintain the surface Historian.
8. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on projects related to electrical, instrumentation, and programming, including design, drafting, cost analysis, and automation strategies.
9. Work with subject matter experts to implement and maintain network infrastructure upgrades according to industry standards.
10. Partner with Process Engineering to optimize process performance and automation.
11. Coordinate with service providers, vendors, and contractors, ensuring compliance with site and industry standards.

Qualifications:

1. Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, eligible for registration with APEGS Saskatchewan, or
2. Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technology, eligible for registration with SASTT.
3. Strong commitment to safety and hazard mitigation.
4. Experience in automation, system integration, or control systems maintenance, especially with PLCs and DCS equipment.
5. Effective communication skills across departments and with external partners.
6. Demonstrated respect and professionalism in the workplace.
7. Analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting.
8. Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation schematics.
9. Experience in engineering, maintenance, or operations at industrial facilities.
10. Experience with PLCs, DCSs, VFDs, or smart starters.
