Location: Cambridge, ON - Onsite

Job type: Full-Time/Contract

We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader with a proven track record in project delivery, focusing on the design and simulation of manufacturing lines. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  1. Perform engineering calculations for machine and tool designs, including strength, speed, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and force.
  2. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness, etc.
  3. Create detailed drawings and bills of materials using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  4. Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (e.g., OSHA, CE).
  5. Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, and hardness. Capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
  6. Communicate design changes and progress to the Manager, Mechanical Engineering, and supervising designers.
  7. Lead the design, development, and implementation of lean manufacturing systems to reduce waste, increase throughput, and shorten lead times.
  8. Lead the development and implementation of job/workstation designs focusing on ergonomics and operator satisfaction.
  9. Oversee the application of tooling, equipment, automation, robotics, and material handling systems to improve safety, quality, and cost.
  10. Assist in developing and maintaining standard engineering data such as layouts, process flow diagrams, capacity charts, time studies, and productivity metrics.
  11. Partner with Product Development and Design Engineering to identify opportunities for Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  12. Perform other duties as needed (not an exhaustive list).

Qualifications include:

  1. Expert-level knowledge of manufacturing processes, cycle time calculation, ergonomics, FMEA, DFM, DFA, and throughput calculation.
  2. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  3. Strong knowledge of drafting principles.
  4. Experience designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
  5. Understanding of pneumatics.
  6. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  7. Analytical skills for engineering calculations and design analysis.
  8. Attention to detail in reviewing drawings and documentation.
  9. Familiarity with ISO procedures and quality standards.

Educational requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field with relevant experience or demonstrated skills and abilities.

Additional requirements:

  1. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  2. Onsite in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
