We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader with a proven track record in project delivery, focusing on the design and simulation of manufacturing lines. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Perform engineering calculations for machine and tool designs, including strength, speed, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and force.
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness, etc.
- Create detailed drawings and bills of materials using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (e.g., OSHA, CE).
- Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, and hardness. Capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
- Communicate design changes and progress to the Manager, Mechanical Engineering, and supervising designers.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of lean manufacturing systems to reduce waste, increase throughput, and shorten lead times.
- Lead the development and implementation of job/workstation designs focusing on ergonomics and operator satisfaction.
- Oversee the application of tooling, equipment, automation, robotics, and material handling systems to improve safety, quality, and cost.
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard engineering data such as layouts, process flow diagrams, capacity charts, time studies, and productivity metrics.
- Partner with Product Development and Design Engineering to identify opportunities for Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Perform other duties as needed (not an exhaustive list).
Qualifications include:
- Expert-level knowledge of manufacturing processes, cycle time calculation, ergonomics, FMEA, DFM, DFA, and throughput calculation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Strong knowledge of drafting principles.
- Experience designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
- Understanding of pneumatics.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Analytical skills for engineering calculations and design analysis.
- Attention to detail in reviewing drawings and documentation.
- Familiarity with ISO procedures and quality standards.
Educational requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field with relevant experience or demonstrated skills and abilities.
Additional requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
- Onsite in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
