Job summary

CIBC is seeking a Sr. Manager of Development in Toronto to lead multiple development teams, shaping scalable server-side systems, APIs and data platforms. Hybrid work model with on-site days and remote work is offered.

You will mentor teams, drive Agile/CI–CD/DevOps practices, and partner with clients to define technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions. A strong background in big data and Azure is preferred.

Qualifications

What you’ll be doing

This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the development function across the organization. As a Sr. Manager, Development you will manage and mentor multiple teams of developers, ensuring that all server-side systems, APIs, and databases are designed, developed, and maintained to meet the highest standards of scalability, security, and performance. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, you’ll be on-site full-time. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

Understanding Requirements- Track and analyze operating environment for specified services and implement corrective actions as needed. Work with clients and internal partners to determine, negotiate and manage services to the agreed standards. Monitor service levels to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend appropriate solutions.

People Leadership- Lead and coach a high performing group team of individuals. Direct, motivate, and develop your team, maximizing their contributions and professional growth. Share knowledge and collaborate to come up with effective solutions to problems.

Relationship Management- Work closely with clients and business partners to develop, test, and implement application program. Impact and improve the business by advising application owners on the technology possibilities and requirements.

Who you are

You can demonstrate 10-15 years experience in. Leading and driving application projects, experience with modern development methodologies and tool chains enabling Agile, Continuous Integration & Delivery, DevOps. Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, streaming technologies and Data Bricks, Azure Cloud. Experience with Oracle Exadata, Data Warehousing, Cognos, Informatica, and AutoSys. It’s an asset to have Azure Cloud and architecture experience, Microsoft Azure ,container technologies (such as Docker), functional programming (such as Scala) and understanding of real time architecture and moving from batch to streaming concepts.
