Job summary

CIBC is seeking a Senior Consultant, Application Development, to lead enterprise AI solutions, guide architectural decisions, and mentor senior technical leaders. You will work across agentic AI, cloud-native services, and full-stack development, driving modern AI frameworks and DevOps practices in a hybrid Toronto setting.

You will collaborate with executives and cross-functional teams to align technology with business goals, coach teams, and deliver secure, scalable AI applications.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of leadership in technical architecture, application development, and design.
• Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field.
• Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, LangSmith, Azure, SQL, Redis, CI/CD, and QA automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural decisions for AI application development across agentic AI and cloud-native services.
• Drive development using Python, FastAPI, JavaScript, Vue.js, and AI frameworks; establish LLM/RAG best practices.
• Mentor senior technical leaders and partner with executives and cross-functional teams.
• Establish trusted relationships with internal clients and align technology with long-term business goals.
• Identify opportunities to drive innovative AI solutions using LangGraph, LangChain, LangSmith and modern DevOps practices.
• Implement observability, monitoring, and QA to ensure AI agent reliability in production environments.

What you’ll be doing

The Data & Artificial Intelligence Office is at the forefront of transforming how CIBC leverages data and AI to deliver exceptional experiences for our internal clients and drive business outcomes. As a Senior Consultant, Application Development, you’ll lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade AI solutions, including our generative AI platforms and CIBC AI initiatives. You’ll guide architectural decisions across agentic AI, cloud-native services, and full-stack engineering, while mentoring senior technical leaders and partnering with executives and cross-functional teams. You’ll drive technical strategy that aligns with business goals, championing innovation through modern AI frameworks, agentic architectures, and DevOps best practices. How you’ll succeed

• Technical leadership & architecture - Lead architectural decisions for AI application development, ensuring secure, scalable, and enterprise-grade solutions across agentic AI, cloud-native services, and full-stack engineering for our generative AI platforms and CIBC AI initiatives.
• Hands-on engineering excellence - Drive development using Python, FastAPI, JavaScript, Vue.js, and modern AI frameworks, while establishing best practices for large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures, and prompt engineering.
• Team leadership & development - Build, mentor, and inspire large, diverse teams that include senior managers and technical specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Internal client partnership - Establish trusted relationships with executives, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align technology initiatives with long-term business objectives and deliver solutions that empower our internal clients.
• Innovation & problem solving - Identify opportunities to drive innovative solutions to complex challenges using agentic frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain, LangSmith) and modern DevOps practices.
• Operational excellence - Implement observability, monitoring, and quality assurance frameworks to ensure the reliability and performance of AI agents in production environments.

Who you are

You demonstrate experience in Python, FastAPI, JavaScript, Vue.js, and modern AI frameworks, with 7+ years of demonstrated experience in a leadership role focused on technical architecture, application development, and solutions design. It’s an asset if you have hands-on experience with LangGraph, LangChain, LangSmith, Azure Cloud services, SQL, Redis, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent), and QA automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium).
