Job summary

CIBC is seeking a Consultant, Application Development (Payments) in Toronto to design, develop and maintain scalable web applications across lines of business. You will work on both front-end and back-end components, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end payment solutions.

The role is on-site full-time with a hybrid schedule (1–3 days on-site, remaining days remote). You’ll bring 6–8 years of Java experience and knowledge of GoLang, containers, and cloud services.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of experience in Java development; GoLang knowledge is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker), cloud services (Azure), and databases.

What you'll be doing

As a Consultant, Application Development (Payments) you will build, implement and maintain, flexible and modular solutions that enhance the client experience across lines of businesses. This role is a senior technical expert responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining both front-end and back-end components of complex web applications. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, ensuring seamless integration of user experience, design, and functionality. The role is instrumental in creating robust, scalable, and high-performing solutions that meet business and technical requirements. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

• Programming Skills- Develop code and test computer programs for straightforward assignments. Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including encoding, testing, and debugging.
• Systems Implementation- Participate in the technical design, development, and integration of cross functional, multi-platform application systems.
• Planning and Coordination- Effectively interact with team members, end users, business analysts, and technical resources to gather requirements and prepare design specifications as instructed by senior team members.

Who you are

• You can demonstrate 6-8 years experience in. Java (Java EE/Java SE) development ability and good knowledge of GoLang would be an asset. Ideally you are familiar with Containerization (Docker), Azure Cloud Services (Azure SQL, Databricks, ADLS, Event Hub, ADF), PostgreSQL, Kubernetes (or Red Hat OpenShift), Web Services/API, Web Security, Networking and Unix.
