Job summary

Sunrun is seeking a Senior Hardware Product Manager to lead the development of key electrification hardware products, including EV charging and home energy systems. You will own end-to-end lifecycle and collaborate with Sales, Operations, Finance and Engineering to shape strategy and roadmaps.

The role requires 8+ years in product management or pricing, a degree in engineering or business, strong financial modeling, and experience with hardware or residential/B2C products.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or other quantitative field.
  • 8+ years of overall experience, and 3+ years in pricing, product management, or related roles.
  • Strong financial modeling and business case development skills.
  • Experience in residential products or B2C preferred; hardware familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product management for electrification portfolio elements (EV charging, V2X, home energy management, energy storage).
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Engineering to define product strategy and manage roadmaps.
  • Articulate product impact on sales, operations, and customer service teams.
  • Own end-to-end product development lifecycle from ideation to launch and post-launch.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support new products and guide pricing decisions.
  • Be Sunrun's expert on customer needs, market trends, and policy landscape for your products.
  • Drive solution innovation and prioritize opportunities with data-informed analysis.
  • Collaborate with senior management on high-priority strategic initiatives.

Job description

The Senior Hardware Product Manager role is among the most challenging and rewarding at Sunrun.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead product management for key elements of Sunrun's electrification portfolio, such as EV charging, V2X solutions, home energy management, and energy storage.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Engineering leaders to define energy products strategy and manage the product roadmap that supports it.
  • Understand, articulate, and manage the impact of new products on sales, operations, and customer service teams.
  • Own the full product development lifecycle — from ideation and business case development through launch and post-launch management — in partnership with Finance, Technology, and Legal.
  • Conduct the financial analysis needed to support new products and make pricing recommendations that balance Sunrun margin with robust growth.
  • Serve as Sunrun's expert on customer needs, business drivers, the market and policy landscape, and technology options for your products, and drive strategic product decisions accordingly.
  • Own solution innovation in your domain, discovering differentiated approaches to meet our customer’s unmet needs. Prioritize opportunities with data-informed analysis and a well honed product sense. Ensure that the products you champion support and enhance Sunrun’s overall offer portfolio.
  • Work closely with senior management on ad-hoc high priority strategic initiatives
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or other quantitative fields is required
  • 8+ years of overall experience, and 3+ years of relevant experience in either pricing, product management, management consulting or something similar
  • Strong financial modeling and business case development skills (required). Background in top-tier management consulting, strategic finance, or corporate strategy is a plus.
  • Demonstrated versatility to operate at a high level and in the weeds.
  • End-to-end product development and management experience preferred.
  • Experience in residential products or B2C preferred.
  • Familiarity with hardware products — working with suppliers, engineering teams, or certification processes — is a plus.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter, or eager to learn them quick ly.
