Position Overview

Mass. Electric Construction Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, is an industry leader in transit and rail system construction and maintenance throughout the United States and Canada. We specialize in the installation of overhead contact systems, traction power substations, signaling and train control, communications and control centers. Location

This position will be based out of Oakville ON, and will support projects all over Canada.

Responsibilities
  1. Providing 'championship' for the project, selling and marketing the project throughout the organization.
  2. Providing business expertise and guidance to the Project Manager.
  3. Acting as the link between the project, the business community and management decision-making groups.
  4. Acting as an arbitrator and making decisions that may be beyond the authority of the Project Manager.
  5. Ensuring that the business need is valid, correctly prioritized and project is properly launched.
  6. Ensuring that the project remains a viable business proposition.
  7. Ensuring changes to the project are properly managed and risks are assessed.
  8. Establishing the project organization, roles and reporting structure.
  9. Ensuring the project is following all Safety Guidelines and policies.
  10. Approving key project deliverables.
  11. Initiating project reviews and supporting the process of review with project team.
  12. Resolving issues (typically competition for resources and priority clashes).
  13. Resolving conflict and removing obstacles to progress.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering in any discipline from a four-year college or university.
  2. At least 10+ years’ related experience and/or training, specifically in the Electrical construction industry.
  3. Experience leading multi-million dollar contracts, including ownership of operations, project administration, client relations and all other scopes relative to large construction projects.
  4. Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  5. Professional Engineer License (desirable).

  3. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  4. Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  5. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  6. May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
