Position Overview

The Electrical Manager is responsible for the overall accountability of one or more projects, ensuring the delivery of the agreed business benefits. This role acts as the organization's representative and provides leadership to support the Canadian transit market.

District Overview

Mass. Electric Construction Company, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation, specializes in transit and rail system construction and maintenance across the US and Canada, including overhead contact systems, traction power substations, signaling, train control, communications, and control centers. Location

This position is based in Oakville, ON, supporting projects across Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Promote project success internally and externally
  • Provide business expertise and guidance to the Project Manager
  • Serve as a link between the project, business community, and management decision groups
  • Make decisions beyond the Project Manager's authority when necessary
  • Validate business needs, prioritize correctly, and ensure proper project launch
  • Maintain project viability as a business
  • Manage changes and assess risks effectively
  • Establish project organization, roles, and reporting structure
  • Ensure safety policies and guidelines are followed
  • Approve key project deliverables
  • Initiate and support project reviews
  • Resolve resource competition and priority conflicts
  • Address conflicts and obstacles to progress
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a four-year college or university
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in the electrical construction industry
  • Experience managing large contracts, including operations, project administration, and client relations
  • Proficiency with project control software like Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Professional Engineer License (preferred)
