Livingston International in Canada seeks a Senior Regulatory Affairs Lead reporting to the Chief Legal Officer to manage the Canadian regulatory affairs team, ensuring internal compliance and supporting regulatory strategy and risk mitigation for Livingston and clients.

You will drive change through lobbying initiatives, build relationships with government agencies and industry associations, and mentor a high‑performing team to push Livingston’s policy priorities.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years related global trade experience.
  • Brokerage industry expertise with Customs Regulations, HTS and Trade Programs.
  • Knowledge of Parliament Hill and legislative process preferred.
  • Lead and motivate high-performing teams.
  • CBSA designation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian laws and directives pertaining to customs and government agencies.
  • Shape legislative policies through advocacy and proactive lobbying efforts.
  • Provide framework for regulatory compliance via policies and audits; develop new procedures.
  • Build relationships with government agencies to promote Livingston's thought leadership.
  • Mentor and develop teams to achieve engagement and goals.
  • Provide input to the CLO by writing regulatory articles and promoting border strategies.
  • Participate in industry associations and committees to promote Livingston's interests.
  • Collaborate with the CLO to develop regulatory strategy for Global Trade.
  • Perform related duties assigned by corporate leaders.

Job description

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer this position is responsible for managing the Canadian regulatory affairs team focused on internal compliance while supporting regulatory strategy and risk mitigation for Livingston and our clients. You will have the opportunity to significantly impact change within the organization via amplified lobbying initiatives to rally support from industry associations, advocacy groups and grassroots networks.

What you bring to the table:

A background in lobbying and stakeholder engagement, excels at presenting to diverse audiences, has a solid grasp of Canada's regulatory landscape, as well as experience leading and inspiring high-performing teams.

Job Duties:
  • Work closely with Livingston's brokerage operations to ensure compliance with Canadian laws, legislation, policy, and directives pertaining to Customs Border Security Agency, and other Participating Government Agencies to minimize risk to the organization.
  • Shape legislative policies through advocacy and proactive lobbying efforts by representing the interests of Livingston; influence decisionmakers to successfully shape the direction of policy development.
  • Provide framework for regulatory organizational compliance via our Compliance Manual, directives, policy, and service center audits; develop new policies and procedures as required.
  • Build relationships with government agencies to promote Livingston's thought leadership; create and promote collaborative environment to facilitate exchange of information.
  • Continuously mentor and develop highly skilled team members; create and inspire teams towards a shared vision to increase engagement and goal achievement.
  • Provide input to the Chief Legal Officer by creating operational synergies, writing regulatory articles for internal and external publications, and promoting common border strategies.
  • Participate in industry associations, committees, etc., to promote and represent Livingston's core interests.
  • Work with the Chief Legal Officer to develop regulatory strategy to ensure Livingston's readiness within the sphere for Global Trade.
  • Perform related duties assigned by corporate leaders to support department initiatives as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • 7 -10 years related global trade industry experience in a company or law firm
  • Brokerage industry expertise with proficiency in Customs Regulations, Harmonized Tariff System, Trade Programs and how they translate to our customers.
  • Knowledge of Parliament Hill and legislative process strongly preferred; ability to develop and implement strategies to influence legislation and policy at the federal level.
  • Lead team, promote company vision, establish direction, and motivate associates; create atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, encourage improvement and innovation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customs, international trade regulations, brokerage systems and service offerings with CBSA Professional Designation preferred
