Job description

McKesson is an impact-driven, Fortune 10 company that touches virtually every aspect of healthcare. We are known for delivering insights, products, and services that make quality care more accessible and affordable. Here, we focus on the health, happiness, and well-being of you and those we serve – we care.

What you do at McKesson matters. We foster a culture where you can grow, make an impact, and are empowered to bring new ideas. Together, we thrive as we shape the future of health for patients, our communities, and our people. If you want to be part of tomorrow’s health today, we want to hear from you.

Market Access and Pricing Assessments: Provide research and project support for client market access and pricing assessments. This requires preparing assessments of clinical evidence and value for product reimbursement. In this role, the Consultant will:

  • Independently synthesize, interpret, and communicate clinical data, pricing data, and policy information and input into product value and reimbursement assessments
  • Understand PMPRB and HTA processes, private and public reimbursement markets, and policy/reimbursement trends affecting market access
  • Collaborate cross-functionally supporting the review and critical appraisal of evidence and pricing objectives

Product Evidence and Value: Submissions to PMPRB may require the submission of clinical value appraisals as a critical component in the strategic advice offered to clients and positioning products for optimal pricing within therapeutic comparators. Understanding the value of clinical trial evidence, place in therapy, reimbursement trends, and PMPRB pricing policies and strategies are all requirements for sound pricing guidance to clients. This role will work cross-functionally with clinical and other team members as needed.

PMPRB semi-annual filings: The Pricing and Policy Team is responsible for leading the semi-annual price regulatory filings for many clients’ patented medicines. As part of the cross-functional team this role will be responsible for a selection of client semi-annual filings. While a foundational understanding of the PMPRB is required, the role will receive training on Block 5 filing requirements from the Sr. Consultant, Pricing and Forecasting.

Budget Impact Analyses: The pricing and policy team provides clients with strategic development of budget impact models for new product HTA submissions, payer engagement and reimbursement negotiations. This function also requires transferring knowledge of modelling into strategic advice for product forecasting, and the development of reimbursement negotiation options. This role will be required to independently develop budget impact models and reports, working cross functionally with other team members in pricing and policy, clinical, and health economics.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to problem-solve, to work independently and as part of a team, and to think strategically and attention to detail is imperative for growth in this role
  • University degree in a relevant scientific or business discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, for example in an HTA or government agency (e.g., Health Canada, CADTH, INESSS, public drug plan, PMPRB), health care consultancy, pharmaceutical/biotechnology organization.
  • Experience in clinical and policy writing
  • Understanding of Canadian drug reimbursement and pricing policies
  • A passion for market access, pricing, and policy – for improving access to innovative and specialized therapies
  • Strong analytical and writing skills with the ability to distill and communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and reference management tools such as EndNote
  • Fluency in English is essential for the position with fluency in French an asset, but not essential
