Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services Group in Toronto, ON. This role involves on-site work, focusing on heavy civil works such as tunnel launch shafts, deep excavations, and heavy piling near active rail corridors, including CN freight lines.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing daily site inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations.
• Overseeing construction of launch shafts, deep excavations, and heavy piling works.
• Monitoring crane operations for safety and efficiency.
• Enforcing rail corridor safety protocols near CN freight operations.
• Collaborating with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Verifying installation and alignment of structural components.
• Managing environmental controls and excavation support systems.
• Maintaining detailed reports and logs using digital tools.
• Participating in construction meetings and supporting project milestones.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• P.Eng., OACETT Designation (C.E.T, C.Tech, A.Sc.T).
• 10+ years of construction engineering experience, especially in Toronto/GTA.
• Experience inspecting mechanical/electrical systems and supervising sites.
• Knowledge of large-scale construction involving deep foundations and tunnels.
• Attention to detail and process improvement skills.
• Experience working in live rail corridors.

Preferred skills:

• Experience with transit projects or transportation infrastructure.
• Knowledge of regulations and safety standards near rail lines.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
