Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Track Construction Inspector to join our infrastructure projects team in Toronto, ON! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

  • Conduct daily and periodic inspections of railway track and track-related infrastructure, ensuring exceptional compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Evaluate construction methods, materials, and workmanship, utilizing precision measuring devices and track gauges to maintain rigorous quality.
  • Monitor and support contractor performance, aiding timely project execution while enhancing processes through critical assessments.
  • Perform special inspections post-severe weather events, ensuring the continued safety and integrity of the infrastructure.
  • Prepare detailed reports, track progress, and record quality control documentation.
  • Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and execute problem-solving tasks.
  • Engage in technical support, value engineering, and resolve constructability challenges by collaborating across functional teams.
  • Maintain strong communication channels with contractors, project teams, and stakeholders to foster a culture of collaboration and open dialogue.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of direct experience in construction engineering and field inspection, especially within Toronto/GTA.
  • Proven track record with construction management, particularly involving track systems and railway infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience in transit, municipal, or commercial infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with technical inspections of mechanical and/or electrical system installations.

What we prefer you bring:

  • OACETT Designation (C.E.T., C.Tech., A.Sc.T).
  • Experience within Class 1 Railway rights-of-way as an asset.
  • Advanced skills in problem-solving, cross-functional teamwork, and technical coordination.
  • A passion for taking on new challenges and a proactive mindset geared towards professional growth and skill development.

Compensation:


The range for this position is salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
