Job description

This role is responsible for building and running an organizational change management capability to advance the roll-out and adoption of technology and services across the company. It will require working with senior business and technology stakeholders and teams across the organization, and is a key part of transforming the ways of working across people, process and technology. This role is also responsible for leading BCP and DR activities.

Within the Canada Technology team, this role will be required to have a good understanding of related technology and service concepts, and coordinate across stakeholder teams to create and maintain a cohesive communication and change management approach and roadmap.

What you will do:

  • Ensure changes are introduced with minimal impact, are well understood and supported.
  • Create and maintain repeatable change management strategies and roadmaps tailored to advancing the use and adoption of technology and services.
  • Build and manage the release calendar and related changes.
  • Represent department on enterprise CAB, run/lead internal CABs.
  • Act as a change leader and advocate for change management, methodologies, and practice across the organization, including influencing senior leadership.
  • Facilitate regular feedback opportunities to ensure objectives and benefits are realized.

Adoption, Communication, Enablement:

  • Ensure technology and services are adopted and applied to business scenarios in a fit-for-purpose manner.
  • Maintain channels and content in support of increasing adoption, awareness, and measurement.
  • Run periodic change/incident reports and communicate it to the respective stakeholders.
  • Help build CIO and critical business reports with Change, Incident details.
  • Lead DR and BCP coordination and activities.
  • Responsible for planning and executing events that promote awareness and excitement with technologies and services across Canada Life, including collaborations with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Plan, develop and execute outbound communications from the technology team.
  • Work with Learning and Development, Human Resources, and Communications areas and others as necessary in the development and implementation of successful ACM strategies and plans.
  • Establish technology and service related learning and training capabilities.

Coaching & Mentoring:

  • Supervise, coach, train and mentor change management team members, program/project team members.
  • Lead and facilitate workshops, working sessions and meetings focused on the change and gaining benefit from the change. Provide education, training and mentoring as needed.

What you will bring:

  • Highly motivated and self-directed individual with the ability to drive process improvement.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably at a financial/Insurance institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of leading technical teams.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience managing incidents, changes and problems in a high paced technical environment.
  • Facilitate a strong team environment; support and guide staff in goal setting, career path planning and skills development.
  • Minimum 2 years leading or coordinating DR/BCM activities.
  • Strong capacity to build and work with teams and collaborate across functions and breakdown silos.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience performing cause and effect analysis.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Must be well-organized and able to work on and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Manage administrative tasks in relation to team members (time card approvals, personal/vacation requests, budget requests).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

The base salary for this position is between $63,000 - $117,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (i.e. annual bonus, commission, etc.).
