The Alexa Edge AI team under Alexa Ambient Computing Tech Organization is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Applied Scientist with a strong deep learning background, to help build industry-leading technology with computer vision, speech, and multimodal perception models for various edge applications.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr. Applied Scientist with the Alexa Edge AI team, you will lead work with talented peers to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the state of the art with multimodal models, with an emphasis on computer vision. Your work will directly impact our customers through products and services utilizing CV technology. You will leverage Amazon's heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate advances within the perception domain.

A day in the life

A Sr. Applied Scientist will lead science solution design, run experiments, research new algorithms, and find new ways of optimizing customer experience, setting examples for good science practice and standards. Besides theoretical analysis and innovation, you will work closely with engineers and scientists to implement algorithms and models into production. This role involves hands-on work and leading technical discussions to deliver solutions.

About The Team

The Alexa Edge AI team aims to deliver resource-efficient multimodal AI models supporting perception (vision, audio, speech) applications for devices like Echo Show series.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications
• PhD, or Master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience
• Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or related languages
• Experience developing and implementing deep learning algorithms, especially in computer vision or audio-video processing

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with on-device deployment of computer vision or deep learning models
• Experience with Vision Language Models, Audio-Video fusion, multi-modal LLMs, or Speech recognition
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
