Position Overview

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. The role involves continuous quality and safety improvement in all aspects of the position.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Coordinator, Speech Pathology, the successful candidate will:

1. Prioritize referrals and assess patients;
2. Develop and implement individual and group treatment programs to ensure optimal patient care for an assigned caseload;
3. Provide treatment to patients at multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology;
• Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Speech Language Practitioner;
• Valid BC driver's license.

Skills and Abilities

• Effective verbal and written communication skills;
• Strong planning and instructional skills;
• Ability to organize individual and group treatment programs;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other professionals, hospital staff, patients, families, and external agencies;
