Job summary

Grande Prairie Public School Division invites applications for a full-time Speech Pathologist to join our division. The role is based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, with travel to schools across the division and mileage/meals compensated.

A Master's degree and ACSLPA licensure are required, with 1 to 7 months of experience. You will assess and treat speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders, develop individualized plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• Licensed by ACSLPA (Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists).
• Valid driver’s license; criminal record check; child abuse registry; professional liability insurance.
• Proficiency in English; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audiometric tests and examinations; assess speech, language, voice, resonance, cognitive linguistic and swallowing disorders.
• Develop, implement and monitor remedial programs in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
• Provide education and advice to patients and families regarding communication and swallowing disorders.
• Supervise technical and support staff and ensure program fidelity and follow-up.

Job description

The Grande Prairie Public School Division is seeking applications for a Full-Time Speech
Pathologist to work within our entire school division. This full-time position is to commence as soon as possible, and will be a continuing, permanent position with daytime hours.

Grande Prairie Public School Division is located in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and you will be based out of 10127 120 Ave., Grande Prairie, Alberta, T8V 8H8. You will be travelling to schools within the division receiving compensation for mileage as well as meals. You will need a valid driver's license with a driver's license validity check, criminal record check, child abuse registry check and you must be eligible for professional liability insurance. You should be licensed by ACSLPA. You must speak excellent english and hold a Master's degree with 1 to 7 months experience.

Your compensation will be based on experience between $69,820 to $105,759 annually.

You will be responsible to conduct audiometric tests and examinations; conduct speech language test and examinations; diagnose and evaluate speech, voice, resonance, language, cognitive linguistic and swallowing disorders; follow up with patients to ensure assigned remedial programs are correctly followed and completed; supervise technical and support staff; develop, plan and implement remedial programs to correct speech, voice, language, resonance, cognitive linguistic and swallowing disorders; establish group and personalized care plans working as a member of an interdisciplinary team; provide advice and educational services to patients and families regarding communication and swallowing disorders and establish personalized care plans working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

You should be proficient with MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Power Point and MS Windows. You should have experience with total communication, oral techniques and alternate or augmentative
communication.

You will be working in a fast paced environment and should have attention to detail.
